A Break Free Story

Lo-fi (or low fidelity) is a music or production quality in which elements usually regarded as imperfections of a recording or performance are audible, sometimes as a deliberate aesthetic choice (source: wikipedia.org)

For us, the term Lo-fi describes wines that are made with soul, just like soul music or soul food.

I want to surprise and delight you by taking you on a journey each time you open a bottle of Break Free by making wine fun, exciting - full of new colour, aroma, and textural taste experiences to share with friends. This means that they are all individual and unique – aren’t we all?

We play with different fermentation techniques using wild yeasts, no filtration or fining and everything we do is vegan.

Break Free wines are made with minimal intervention (meaning ‘human’ intervention!) and minimal additions or adjustments as possible – from vineyard, to grape, to glass.

CREATOR, OWNER & VISIONARY

After 30+ years in the corporate world (yes, I am that old – but isn’t age is just a number?) I knew I wanted to learn and experience more – I literally, instinctively knew I needed to Break Free from my norm.

I knew that I had keen eye for detail, a love of food, travel, design, fashion, and art but my real passion was connecting with people through events that kept them coming back for more. So how could I bring this all together?

I had previously worked with Nick (my husband) selling and promoting Australian wine across the globe, but deep down I knew that some of the more traditional wine styles weren’t for me.

I wanted wines and styles that broke the rules, had a strong female voice and that were driven by colour, aromatics, and texture. I wanted wines that are fresh, youthful, bright, and made you want to share them with friends…something different, something new. With this front of mind, I created my own wine storyboard and, with a little help from my friends, Break Free was born.

Nick

BUSINESS & LIFE PARTNER

This is Nick. Funny, intelligent, amazing storyteller and a person with over 30 years working, marketing, selling, and collecting - he knows a thing or two about the worldwide wine game.

He has owned a number of businesses in this industry and has a reputation for being someone who has built some incredible brands over the years. He loves Chablis, can cook a mean steak and is my greatest friend and the best mentor a girl could ask for.

After working in this world for such a long time I knew that Nick had contacts with grape growers, experienced wine makers, production facilities, distributors (in Australia and overseas) and he understood how to take an idea, build a brand and get it out to market.

What more could I ask for?
